Who you'll work with

A respected veteran of the supply chain sector.

Twenty-five years designing, running and repairing the networks that move product — first inside a national distributor at enterprise scale, now independently, for companies that need the same thinking without the same overhead.

The arc

What twenty-five years actually buys you.

Ward started on the operating side and stayed there. Eleven years as a logistics specialist, manager and then Director — the years that teach you what a missed appointment costs and why a carrier really files a claim. Then six years as a Senior Director running logistics projects and supply chain management at enterprise scale: 100,000+ inbound shipments a year, from 36 countries and 1,300 origins, into 59 facilities.

Since 2017 he has run WECL independently. The same diagnostic instinct, pointed at companies that will never carry a supply chain department of that size — and without a carrier or a software vendor paying for the recommendation.

  • 25+Years in supply chain
  • 17Years at enterprise scale
  • 9Years running WECL

Selected outcomes

Problems that had already been declared unsolvable.

Each of these was delivered inside a top-tier national wine & spirits distributor — a business where a late truck spoils product and a missed appointment is measured in demurrage.

$7Mavoided

A distribution center acquired without the cost that came with it

Renegotiated rates on the acquisition of a new DC in Alaska and re-engineered the supply chain behind it — freight spend down 5%, safety stock down 80%, fill rates up more than 10%.

$9M+saved

15.6K intermodal shipments moved to boxcars

Saved over $9M in base freight and avoided more than $2M in peak surcharge fees — with zero exposure to heat or freezing, so product quality never paid for the savings.

52 daysahead of plan

1.1M cases relocated between facilities

Designed and executed the move from a decommissioned DC to a new facility, finishing 52 days ahead of the initial plan and 40% under the anticipated budget.

$3Mremoved

Demurrage taken out of the inbound network

Built a preferred inbound drayage program with ocean freight providers and intermodal rail 3PLs — stabilising pricing and easing pressure on the receiving appointment process.

48% → 99%recovery rate

Freight claims turned from a write-off into a recovery

Instituted the enterprise freight claims handling policy, coordinated across Legal, Insurance and Operations. Recovery improved from 48% to 99%.

$4M+saved

Sole-source intermodal broken open

Re-engineered the domestic intermodal network from a single provider to multiple. New routes to market cut two days out of the supply chain and more than $4M out of cost.

Figures reflect projects delivered in prior enterprise roles. They are stated individually and deliberately not summed — several represent cost avoided rather than cost recovered.
